a sweeter story,

carrying the weight of these complicated tears,
laiden with a pain that no one ever hears,
tired of the lies that echoed on the years

dagny fletcher, played by autumn.
21+. primal. excalibur. mst.

notes

  • age - i would prefer to rp with others that are 21+ in real life. i've been rping for 20+ years since i was a kid, to give you an idea of how old i might be.

  • length - i'll match my partner, but i do admit i tend to be more concise/on the shorter side. multi-paragraph is totally doable.

  • medium - i would prefer in game usually, but i am open to discord rp if we click well. i just might need an occasional prod.

  • availability - ask! my schedule is pretty open but i do have other obligations.

  • lore stuff - lore bendy is fine! i don't mesh with stuff that breaks lore outright, though.

  • ic/ooc - please don't let this blur. i've experienced this blur multiple times and if i notice this happening, i will either ask you to stop or block you outright.

  • social cues - i'm a bit awkward and shy and can take a bit to open up, yay neurodivergence. being direct with me will go a long way.

  • mare - you betcha! go ahead and ask.

rp

  • casual slice of life - the usual start! just meeting at a venue and strike up a chat, and see where it leads.

  • romance/erotic - dagny's weird, and sapphic-ish is on her profile for a reason. but if you want to try wooing her, go ahead, she likes the attention. i'm open to romance and eventual 'smut', but i will not dedicate her to a single partner.

  • mature/dark - yes absolutely! i do enjoy prodding away at the darker side of human nature and what's hidden away in xiv's lore. i may need an occasional break or recharge from it, depending on how far it gets.

  • combat - sure lol, your character will probably win! dagny's pretty much a novice when it comes to combat, most of her talents lie elsewhere.

  • anything else...? - just ask! i like throwing dagny into situations and seeing what happens, she's my blorbo.

  • dni - usual stuff, transphobes, racism, misogyny, etc.

about.

to break the spell, and bid farewell
i'll open up their eyes, let the truth arise
may deception cease, may i find peace

dislikes.   being underestimated, disorganization, the bite of bitter cold, prying into private matters, when conflict drags on too long, laziness or weak excuses.

personality.   quiet yet talkative, kind yet ruthless, meek yet stubborn. dagny--as most know her--is a series of contradictions that only reveal themselves the more time spent in her presence. she gives the air of a refined, privileged upbringing, and she won't deny it, but she finds herself more comfortable among adventurers rather than aristocracy. that is not to say dagny can't navigate herself around them, or finely tune a business plan with pitiless precision.however, her sun-colored eyes can betray her emotions to a keen observer, swiftly scanning a scene and calculating possibilities in her head. it is something that almost never escapes her--the constant racing, delicate lacework of thoughts spreading itself upon a canvas of her mind. and because of these thoughts, some might view the young raen as anxious or shy, and dagny herself would say that would not be inaccurate, but for what reason?but then there is an impulsivity that runs through dagny, as well--she cannot stand injustice, she is her own best advocate, and despises being underestimated. perhaps it is from the life dagny had led before, that sometimes bubbles to the surface. she has a wide variety of knowledge over a countless amount of subjects, but seems the most familiar with alchemy and arcanima, coffees and teas. but when it comes to practicality, sometimes she is lacking. an idealistic sort that believes that anything can be overcome with understanding and enough faith. perhaps she is too young to have learned otherwise just yet...but surely one day, she will.

background.   she was a miracle, an infant born when it thought it wasn't possible. she was lucky, for the empire decided to assassinate her family and she survived. she was blessed, for her brilliance was not only from her circumstances, but also from her mind. she was a reminder of what was lost, thanks to those golden eyes. and for that, she was cherished and loved and protected.but perhaps too much, and for too long. a childhood filled with tutors, expectations, and longing. the child, that wasn't born with the name dagny fletcher, was a favorite of her grandfather, born to the esteemed houses of thavnair. he had high hopes for her, and far too many dreams. most that 'dagny' bitterly scorned. higher education, an arranged marriage, a joining of two merchant families. that was the life laid out for her.so she fled. to return to a place from when she was young, before dalamud fell. before her grandfather pulled out his business interests in eorzea, for he thought the land would be brought to ruin. if he would abandon it so easily, dagny would do the opposite. but not with the name that carried her legacy, the reminder of what she was supposed to be.dagny fletcher. that would do.it has not been easy, but dagny didn't expect it to be. she made connections, worked odd jobs, peddled wares, relied on others. eventually she found her own footing. an alchemist. a merchant. an arcanist. the clever dagny fletcher, with her sights on many disciplines and duties, so she never falls through the cracks and back to what was expected of her.she refuses to return to that.

hooks

a mender.   dagny was trained in the hannish tradition of alchemy, but she is also familiar with eorzean applications and a wide array of conjury. if you are in need of someone that could come up with unconventional solutions to any sort of ailment, common or exotic, the alchemist's guild would have dagny towards the top of their list.
a trader.   she still maintains somewhat strained ties to her family businesses, but has done her best to build herself up on her own merits. coffee, tea and alchemical concoctions are dagny's specialty, though her wide connections would make her able to secure just about anything. within reason, of course.
a name.   it's an odd name for a raen, isn't it? dagny fletcher. but perhaps you notice the other things--how she will say the name of dalmascan goods perfectly, or how her alchemy case is labelled in an elegant hannish script. perhaps you swear you recognize her from somewhere, maybe it was radz-at-han? people are more than just their names, after all, but dagny's can sometimes sprout endless questions.
a nuisance.   sometimes, unkind words can be spoken about dagny. she seems unassuming and kind at first, even timid, but a few in the guilds swear she is insufferable. many a merchant family will refuse to do business with her...or maybe it's the other way around? allegedly, she has a temper, and sometimes that can lead to uncomfortable confrontations.
an academic.   a puzzle to solve. a mystery to unveil. a long forgotten book. a new approach. even if she doesn't want to spend her time within a classroom, dagny is an academic at heart, thirsty for knowledge and to understand the world around her. a detriment? surely, but she is stubborn, and it hasn't killed her yet.
etc.   these are just some ideas! i'm open to other ways to have our characters interact, so don't be afraid to ask. : )

alchemy.

theory.   dagny follows an alchemy practice that is largely hannish in background, with applications of both dalmascan and eorzean alchemical and herbalism theory. hannish alchemy places great emphasis on the balance on all six elements within the body, and any illnesses or injuries can be simplified down to an aetherical imbalance. there is more that goes into alchemy than simply elemental aether, naturally, but a deep understanding of the elements and how they interact with one another is essential for any alchemist in the hannish tradition.in addition to elemental energy, there is the unproven theory of akasa, an energy beyond aether that is formed by feelings and intent. it is believed that any feelings put within a concoction can have a result on the end creation. while only theory, dagny does believe that intent in any potion she creates is important, and murmurs a small prayer when appropriate for healing solutions.

application.   on the battlefield, hand to mouth liquid potions are often impractical. after the creation of liquid potions for healing and care, dagny will partially convert some of her stock into a mist form. this mist can be manipulated from short distances to aid in healing and to harm, by focusing on the elements within them. a mist that was originally meant to heal can only work as a healing solution, however. and the same can be said for solutions meant to harm.dagny's education had a significant focus on healing. with such a focus on healing, it is only natural that she is also familiar how fatal poisons are made--for an antidote often requires understanding of the original poison. however, much like healing potions, a focus on this would be impractical. when she intends to do damage, she will rely on vials of crushed crystals converted into a misty essence--working off elemental theory and the elemental wheel to apply them the most effectively in combat.

practice.   a basic understanding of magic and aetherical manipulation is required for dagny's application of alchemy in combat scenarios. this is boosted by conjury and arcanima techniques. these are then applied to advanced elemental application theory. simplified down this is the basic elemental wheel.at the more advanced level, this accounts for how all elements interact with one another, and their current polarities. healing magics can be a general one-sized-fits-most solution, but it can be amplified. awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of an element is essential, along with how said elements would interact with a living person. removing the humor of blood, for example, can be a better remedy than the purest spring water. while blood is rich with water, one of the core elements for almost all life, it has a high potential of being tainted, and sometimes that requires for it be removed and then later replenished.

tools of the trade.   glass bottles and vials filled with various concoctions are a staple for any alchemist, and dagny is no exception. there is, however, additional tools that she has at her disposal. elemental crystals play a major part in alchemy, and dagny uses them to often help redirect her potion concoctions or provide raw energy.she also utilizes geometric arcanist theory, keeping calculations in her meticulously (yet incoherent to anyone but herself) kept codex along with various filled potions and vials. she is also able to form the energy into concentrated motes, able to provide light in the darkest caves or small pulses of elemental damage when appropriate. these often start out as condensed vials of elemental aether that are then manipulated through her own knowledge of arcanima.outside of advanced alchemical energy theories, dagny does find value in simple herbalism. aloe can treat minor burns well enough, and a cup of the right tea can help soothe nightmares away. when possible, the easiest solution can often be the correct one, and dagny applies that when she remembers to in her work.
